Garden Pizza Party Raises $550 for Slice Out Hunger, Showcasing Local Brands’ Commitment to Community Support
San Diego, September 14 — The Garden Pizza Party, an inspiring community-driven event, successfully raised $550 to support Slice Out Hunger in their mission to combat food insecurity through their "Pie it Forward" initiative. This project benefits hunger relief efforts across the U.S. by purchasing pizza from independently-owned pizzerias and distributing it to soup kitchens and shelters. Over the first two years, Slice Out Hunger has provided 6,500 pizzas to 200 different hunger relief organizations, feeding over 17,000 individuals experiencing food insecurity.
The event, which took place on September 14, brought together local businesses, generous donors, and volunteers to create a memorable experience that amplified awareness and support for Slice Out Hunger.
Organized by Margarita Schwiebert, the event highlighted the strength of collaboration between the community and local brands, including Juneshine, Easyrider, Urban Slicer, and Flat Iron Pepper Company. These sponsors contributed not only through financial donations but also by offering their products and services to enhance the event experience, providing a unique opportunity to give back while promoting their brands' commitment to social responsibility.
“We were thrilled to see such a positive response from the community and our partners,” said Margarita Schwiebert, event organizer and local creative. “This event truly showcased how much can be accomplished when individuals and businesses come together for a cause they believe in. We’re proud to support Slice Out Hunger and the incredible work they’re doing.”
The event featured homemade pizza with fresh garden basil, pizza sauce from scratch, local music, and free refreshments, allowing attendees to enjoy a lively and welcoming atmosphere while learning more about the cause. All proceeds will go directly to Slice Out Hunger, helping them continue their impactful work to fight hunger across the U.S.
